Mood Board

We have decided on the image of the main character in our film. We have decided that the clothing is scruffy. The type of clothing she will wear will be ripped jeans and over sized clothing which will show how no one cares enough about her to be buying her normal sized clothing. However, we want to make her appear to make the best out of everything she owns, this will allow her to still be quite appealing to the audience.
We want our film title to be quite basic; this is because many drama films (with exception of the holiday which is a Romance film) have very simple titles. The simplicity is to represent that these films show the stories of everyday people as they go about their daily lives. Our favourite of the four selected film titles is ‘Les Miserables’. This is because although the title is simple a gradient is used which makes it more exciting which will attract the audience to the film.
The props that we need include a cheap take away coffee, a train ticket, a sleeping bag and an old and broken phone. The coffee needs to be cheap to emphasise how little money she has. We will need to buy a bus ticket to show that she is going on the search for her parents. The sleeping bag needs to be old as this is what usual homeless people have and we need the phone to be broken to show how much she has been through.
We decided to film our opening in a busy street in the festive season. It has to be busy to emphasise the fact that our main characters parents could be anyone. Our symbol in our film will be the Christmas lights as the character, being homeless sees them frequently and they symbolise the hope to find her parents which is even more so during the run up to Christmas where everyone is together. We will use a shallow focus to reveal the Christmas lights.
Some shots we will feature are a point of view shot, an over the shoulder shot, a mid shot, an establishing and a high angle shot. A point of view shot will be used to help put the audience in the main characters shoes; to give them an insight into the life of a homeless child. An over the shoulder shot will be used when the main character buying a bus ticket. A mid shot will be used to show the main character crossing the road. An establishing shot will be used to show the audience the location of the film. A high Angle shot will be used to represent the vulnerability of the character being homeless.
